| Description | Seluruh warga IOES ingin merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan dan terima kasih kepada Ts. Dr. Hii Kieng Soon atas segala khidmat bakti, komitmen serta sumbangan cemerlang yang telah dicurahkan sepanjang tempoh pelantikan beliau sebagai Penyelaras Stesen Penyelidikan Marin Bachok (BMRS) dari 3 Januari 2021 hingga 8 Jun 2026, serta sebagai Penyelaras Jaringan Luar IOES bermula 15 Februari 2023. Jasa dan dedikasi beliau amat dihargai serta telah memberikan impak yang signifikan kepada pembangunan dan kecemerlangan IOES sebagai Pusat Kecemerlangan Pendidikan Tinggi (HICoE). Semoga Ts. Dr. Hii Kieng Soon terus melakar kejayaan, dikurniakan kesihatan yang baik, dan mencapai kecemerlangan yang lebih gemilang di tempat baharu. | ||

| Description | Majlis Penutup Projek Pemeliharaan Warisan Biologi Lembah Lenggong Melalui Pemerkasaan Komuniti (PEWARIS) & Peluncuran Buku telah berlangsung dengan jayanya pada 8 Mei 2026, Jumaat, di Dewan Merdeka, Lenggong, Perak. Majlis anjuran bersama Institut Sains Samudera dan Bumi (IOES), Pusat Penyelidikan Antartika Kebangsaan (NARC), Majlis Daerah Lenggong, Think City dan Yayasan Hasanah ini disempurnakan oleh Tuan Mohd Amzari bin Mohd Arzami, Yang Dipertua Majlis Daerah Lenggong. Majlis turut dimeriahkan oleh Penghulu Mukim Lenggong, wakil Sigar Highlands, Think City, Lenggong360, serta guru-guru, murid-murid dan ibu bapa dari SK Sumpitan dan Wakaf Che Teh Fatimah. Kehadiran semua pihak mencerminkan semangat komuniti dalam memelihara warisan biologi dan alam sekitar untuk generasi akan datang. Kemuncak majlis ialah peluncuran empat buah buku hasil Projek PEWARIS iaitu: i) Diversiti Kulat di Lenggong ii) Mewarna bersama Kiki iii) Kiki Saves Our Earth iv) Kiki Selamatkan Bumi Kita Pelbagai aktiviti turut diadakan, antaranya pembacaan sajak oleh adik Nur Umairah Alesya binti Abdullah dari SMK Tan Sri Abdul Aziz, tayangan dokumentari Lenggong & Projek PEWARIS, penyampaian hadiah kepada pemenang pertandingan mewarna dan projek 3D kulat, serta lawatan ke pameran Projek PEWARIS. Profesor Dr. Siti Aisyah Alias, Ketua Projek PEWARIS, merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan kepada semua pihak yang menjayakan program ini. Semoga usaha memelihara warisan biologi dan memperkasa komuniti ini terus memberi manfaat kepada masyarakat dan kelestarian alam sekitar. | ||

| Description | We are delighted to welcome 2 students from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), who have begun their 6-month internship at the Bachok Marine Research Station (BMRS), IOES, Universiti Malaya. We also welcome one PhD student from the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS), China, who is joining BMRS under the one-year UM Mobility Programme. Their four-week orientation covers key areas such as laboratory safety, HAB field sampling, microalgal culturing, and molecular biology techniques, providing a strong foundation in marine research. Wishing them all the best for a fruitful and inspiring journey at BMRS.  | ||

| Description | A wonderful day of learning and discovery at BMRS, IOES, UM!   We recently had the pleasure of hosting 43 first-year Aquatic Science students from UNISZA for an educational visit filled with insightful and hands-on experiences. From a lecture by Ts. Dr Hii Kieng Soon on harmful algae, toxins, and HABs research, to microscope observation sessions  , scientific instrument demonstrations, and a fun introduction to scuba diving  , the visit offered a great glimpse into the exciting world of aquatic science.Thank you for visiting us — we hope the experience was both enjoyable and inspiring, and that everyone went home with new knowledge and great memories! | ||

| Description | Congratulations to Miss Nur Syazwani Kassim and Nur Fatihah Mohd Azmi, PhD students, who were honoured to be invited to participate in the Research Capability Enhancement for Young Scientists in Asia with the Asian Research Center for Bioresource and Environmental Sciences (ARC-BRES), Japan, held from 7–16 December 2025. The program brought together seven participants from different countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, and India, fostering meaningful academic and cultural exchange among young researchers. Throughout the program, participants took part in cultural and laboratory visits, hosted by several professors, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mitsunori Iwataki from The University of Tokyo (UTokyo). The experience provided valuable exposure to advanced research techniques and facilities, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). In addition, participants visited the man-made forest and agricultural campus, gaining insights into field-based environmental research, while also enjoying the scenic beauty of Japan during the late autumn season. They were further given the opportunity to participate in a cultural visit to Mount Fuji, enriching the overall cultural experience. The program concluded with participants presenting their research work on the final day, allowing for knowledge sharing and constructive discussions among peers and mentors. This program was a truly enriching experience that strengthened international collaboration, broadened research perspectives, and enhanced professional development. Sincere appreciation to the host institution and organizers for their warm hospitality and invaluable learning experience. | ||
