Marine Biotechnology Research Unit

Aims to develop marine living resources for food security, new biological products, and sustained ecosystem services. Focuses on utilizing modern, cutting-edge biotechnological approaches, genetic transformations, and molecular phylogeny.

Earth Observation and Climate Change Unit

Dedicated to the development of observation and simulation technologies for land, ocean, and atmospheric systems. Contributes to the acquisition of vital data useful for predicting ocean-related climate change, monsoon meteorology, and global warming impacts on society.

Maritime Law, Policy and Governance Unit

Concerned with developing research and thinking around the role of law, regulation, and boundary demarcation in managing our oceans. Addresses geopolitical importance, maritime cybersecurity, sustainable shipping, and autonomous vessels, defining the role of Malaysia in international law.

Maritime Coastal Engineering and Modelling Unit

Focuses on hydraulic coastal management, wave-current model simulations, river engineering, integrated river basin management, and developing multi-dimensional GIS systems for shoreline mitigation and wave breaker profiling.

Maritime Social Innovation Unit

Examines brand management in services, marketing psychology, socio-demographic profiling of coastal populations, and establishing business matrices to support poverty eradication and socioeconomic growth along Malaysia's coastlines.
